Nicolas Le Riche

Nicolas Le Riche has been a leading étoile of the Paris Opera Ballet since being appointed étoile in 1993 at the age of 21 as Rudolf Nureyev’s last protegée.

He has created principal roles in Mats Ek’s Appartement (2000), William Forsythe’s Pas./parts (1999), Jiri Kylian’s Doux Mensonges (1999), John Neumeier’s Sylvia(1997), Trisha Brown’s O zlozony / O Composite (2004), and has starred in most of the classical, neo-classical, and contemporary works in the company’s vast repertoire. He also frequently performs as a guest star in the premier dance companies around the world.

He has appeared in many of the world’s preeminent venues and festivals and has been featured in numerous performance and documentary films. He was awarded the Benois de la Danse Prize in 1995 and the Nijinsky Award in 2004. Le Riche has been decorated Chevalier des Arts et Lettres and Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérite.

Le Riche choreographed Caligula, his first creation for the Paris Opera Ballet, in 2005 to critical and popular success.
