

Born in Beijing, Xing Liang graduated in classical dance division from the Beijing Dance Academy in 1991. He was the Gold Prize winner in Tao Li Bei Competition Junior Section and Senior Section. During 1991 and 1992, he was the principal dancer in the Youth Division of the Academy. He joined the Guangdong Modern Dance Company in March 1993.
Xing has won numerous awards including the Gold Award in the Male Solo Class at the 6th Paris International Dance Competition in 1994, The Top Ten National Performers in 1996, The Star of the Century by the Guangdong Provincial Government in 1997, the Gold Award in the Modern Dance Section at the 8th Paris International Dance Competition for his work I Want to Fly in 1998, the Hong Kong Dance Alliance Dance Awards for his performance in Ju Dou in 1999, the Silver Award in the Modern Dance Section at the 1st Italy International Dance Competition for his work Night of Dancer and the 2nd Class Award in Choreography at the 5th National Dance Competition for his work Mon Amour Sans in 2001. Xing received the Hong Kong Dance Alliance Dance Awards again for his works The Enigma of Desire - Dali vs Gala and Stranger Than Fiction in 2004 and 2006 respectively. He was awarded The Hong Kong Arts Development Awards for Outstanding Young Artist in Dance category in 2007.
Xing was invited to participate in the International Choreographers Residency Programme in the American Dance Festival in 1996. His work Chamber was invited to join Beijing · Hong Kong Modern Dance Festival (Beijing) in 1999. He formed Movement Fiber with Sang Jijia and choreographed Happening Continuous in 2000. His work 180° was invited to join Holland Dance Festival in 2001. He was invited by Vancouver Goh Ballet to perform in 2003 for its 25th Anniversary celebration.
Other choreographic works include The Eyes, Requiem, The Rite of Spring, Lumière, 365 Ways of Doing and Undoing Orientalism, That Moment of Arvo Pärt, The Enigma of Desire - Dali vs Gala, Stranger Than Fiction, The Conqueror and Nijinsky and Out Of The Box. Nijinsky has been invited to perform in Beijing after its premiere in Hong Kong. Its DVD has been released in the Greater China region with critical acclaim.
Xing is currently the Resident Artist of City Contemporary Dance Company.
