"Monday’s child is fair of face, Tuesday’s child is full of grace..."

Tuesday’s Child and Other Dances celebrates contemporary dancers and dancemakers in Singapore and beyond. In the title work, artistic director Tammy L. Wong visits the children’s poem, Monday’s Child, and finds Tuesday’s Child to be full of grace. The notion of grace is explored in brief, fleeting vignettes. Also featuring choreographies by LASALLE faculty members Cheng Hsienfa, Melissa Quek and Albert Tiong, as well as international guests, Tuesday’s Child and Other Dances promises to be an exciting evening for all.

Performing the works is an auxiliary cast of dancers from the School of Dance at LASALLE College of the Arts, which provides an integrated learning experience in contemporary dance, combining rigorous studio training with the study of ideas and expression from a fusion of Eastern and Western cultural perspectives. It seeks to challenge students’ expressive, intellectual and physical capabilities through the practice of creative processes such as improvisation, choreography and performance, preparing them for professional careers as dance artists, educators and research-driven creators.
