“Today, Paloma is at the height of her artistic powers.” – Twyla Tharp, DANCE Magazine May 2009

“the excitement in watching Herrera is palpable... She dances joy”The DanceView Times

An evening of scintillating virtuosity awaits ballet fans as Paloma Herrera takes the stage. Known for her technical brilliance and stunning beauty, Herrera has entranced audiences in major classical roles as well as contemporary dance. Dance Magazine noted that her “beautiful feet, facile limbs, a prodigious jump, and astute musicality make her dancing a sheer pleasure to watch”. Her technique is equally matched by her dramatic flair and wit as seen in her captivating portrayals of ballet’s favourite heroines. Leading contemporary roles have also been created for her by renowned choreographers such as Twyla Tharp, Nacho Duato and James Kudelka. Named by The New York Times Magazine as among those “most likely to change culture” in the next 30 years, Herrera made history at the American Ballet Theatre when at 19 she became their youngest ever female principal. In 2008, she was awarded the Gold Medal in the Arts by the Kennedy Center International Committee in the Arts.

Herrera is joined by a stellar cast of dancers from international dance companies, including Tiit Helimets (principal dancer, San Francisco Ballet), Iana Slenko and Marian Walter (principal dancer and soloist, Statsballett Berlin), Mizuka Uena and Naoki Takagishi (principal dancer and co-artistic director/principal dancer, Tokyo Ballet), and Ashley Bouder (principal dancer, New York City Ballet). Presenting excerpts from popular classical and neo-classical ballets, this performance will enthrall you with spectacular and sublime dancing.

*Cast may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.

Due to injury, Yuan Yuan Tan will not be able to perform at the ballet gala
