Passion and obsession
fired by flamenco...
It's bold. It's sexy. It's the classic opera Carmen given
a spectacular new treatment with flamenco and Spanish classical dance
choreographed by award-winning Aída Gómez. Also playing
the title role, she captivates audiences with her explosive performance
as the fiery gypsy. Her superb artistry in dance and choreography
comes alive on stage in this tale of seduction and passion, of love
and obsession, of defiance and regret. Featured as Don José and
Escamillo, rivals in their love for Carmen, are the charismatic Christiano
Lozano and Primitivo Daza.
This latest production comes after a string of other successful works
for stage and film that have won numerous awards and accolades for Aída
Gómez, the youngest ever artistic director of the Spanish National
Ballet. It also brings together the talents of director Emilio Sagi,
who has led a host of productions at major theatre companies and festivals
around the world such as Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Real and San Francisco
Opera, and musical director José Antonio Rodríguez, also
celebrated as a composer, flamenco guitar virtuoso, recording artist
and producer. Performed to Bizet's operatic score as well as original
music by Rodríguez, and featuring an ensemble of some of the
best flamenco dancers in Europe, this is a Carmen like no other. |
